A place of rest, pleasure and dreams

KASBAH TAMASLOTHE is situated in the middle of the desert, equidistant 20 mins from Marrakech’s old town and the airport, 5 mins away from Tameslohte village on the road to Amizmiz. This private, consciously created, environment friendly home is fully powered with solar energy, comes with its own well and filtered water. The main house features five bedrooms with five ensuite bathrooms and a guest toilet, two salons, a dining room, an office, shaded terraces, six fire places, air conditioning, a laundry, a fully equipped kitchen and a swimming pool. Two of the grand suites come with their own terrace and two of the bedrooms feature a balcony.

This hidden oasis sits on the top of a hill with a breathtaking 360 degree view to the Atlas mountains, a beautiful array of colours and far away from the daily hustle and bustle of the medina. The two hectares of land are filled with orange, lemon and olive trees, fragrant herbs around the pool, a palm and a cactus garden. The house comes fully staffed with daily cleaning and a cook, a gardener, a driver, butler and a guardian with our dog Simba who lives at the property. They offer fresh eggs daily from their chickens and the chef uses only organic produce locally sourced. There is WIFI on both floors with portable routers to the garden. Plenty of toys are available for children, including books in different languages, a ping pong table and a large trampoline.

The Kasbah has been designed by Vintage Curator Carmen Haid, who once was attaché presse for Yves Saint Laurent and first set foot in Morocco in 1996. Austrian born and a lifetime in fashion, Carmen loves Morocco and lives between Paris and London. The house pays homage to the Moroccan hand craftsmanship as well as the historic painting techniques which are currently used for restoration at the Museum of Islamic Art in Marrakech.  The villa was built with traditional materials sourced locally supporting several Women’s co-operatives as well as emerging artists. It is an ever-evolving interpretation of a desert sanctuary – a blended mix of styles, filled with nomadic artefacts, antiques and curiosities from around the world.

‘The Kasbah is a place of rest, pleasure and dreams filled with Morocco’s air of possibility’, Carmen Haid
